CONDITION: Female Disorders

DESCRIPTION:
The female reproductive organs include the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva. Since the combined primary function of these organs is reproduction, disorders affecting these organs often result in infertility. Disorders that affect more than one female organ are endometriosis and pelvic inflammatory disease. Disorders that affect the ovaries include ovarian cysts, polycystic ovary syndrome and ovarian cancer. Disorders affecting the uterus include fibroids, uterine polyps, prolapsed uterus and uterine cancer. Disorders affecting the cervix include cervical cancer and disorders affecting the vagina and vulva are cancer of the two, vaginal thrush and infection in the vulva or vagina. Dysmenorrhea, fibrocystic breast disease, breast cancer and PMS are also conditions that afflict women. Overall, female disorders are quite common; many women will develop one or more of them during their lifetime.

How does female disorders develop?
Most causes of female disorders are currently unknown but there are certainly risk factors associated with all of them. Sexually transmitted disease often triggers many of the female disorders as well as infection, hormone imbalance, age, genetic factors, poor diet, obesity and reasons that are unclear. Early detection is imperative in the success rate of treating all female disorders.

In addition, with female disorders, an estradiol excess (which can occur by taking oral contraceptives or other synthetic forms of estrogen) often is found to be part of the patient's physiology. Knowing that the development of the disease may be closely linked to this factor, natural medicine practioners always address this excess in treating these conditions.

What are the symptoms of female disorders?
Depending on the disorder, different symptoms may occur. Most disorders are characterized by common symptoms such as pain in the abdomen and pelvic areas, pain after intercourse, bloating, frequent or painful urination, irregular or heavy menstruation, swelling or bloating in abdomen area, bleeding after menopause, abnormal vaginal discharge, fatigue and sometimes fever.

Conventional medical treatments may help relieve the symptoms of female disorders but they do not address the root of the problem. Discover why we believe that natural medicine treatments are the best way to treat female disorders.
