Do You Spiralize?

spiralized

Spiralization is the art of turning veggies into “noodles” using a spiralizer. Many are turning to spiralizing to find healthier ways to consume more vegetables, reduce carb instake, and include a more paleo, veggie-filled, gluten free, healthy substitute for pasta, rice, or even fries.

We have been spiralizing for quite some time now and it’s not only nutritious but tons of fun! It only takes a few minutes and you save time because you don’t have to wait for water to boil like you do with pasta!

Why spiralize? Many of us spiralize to increase veggies and decrease calories. This simple switch can really make a difference in your weight loss goals. Vegetables contain water and are loaded with nutrients, dietary fiber, and help stabilize metabolism.

Spiralizing your veggies and fruits will increase the volume of that food, thus making them go a long way. For example, one zucchini is enough for two people to enjoy. Kids love spiralizing! My niece visiting last summer could not wait to spiralize anything she could get her hands on! She learned about healthier eating options, as well as had fun.

You may be thinking, “What can I spiralize?” Well, funny you should ask. My favorites right now are zucchini, beets, carrots, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, peppers, and apples. Not only can you use these spiralized veggies for “pasta,” but you can also eat them as a side dish, use them in soups, add to baked goods such as muffins and quick breads, or make delicious salads with them!

A great website for how-to’s as well as recipes is www.Inspiralized.com. I use the Paderno World Cuisine 4-Blade spiralizer from Amazon. Another great option is the Inspiralizer. They all contain different blade sizes for personalization. Let’s get inspiralized! You can do it!
