How do you feel during the holidays?
Are you filled with joy and peace or stressed out and on edge?
Sometimes we can feel like we have to be the one who does it all… every gift is wrapped perfectly with a bow, you baked about a billion Christmas cookies, your home is perfectly decorated and although that can make the Holidays an amazing, magical time, it isn’t worth losing sleep over!
We want to encourage you this Christmas not to forget the reason for the season and why we celebrate it. Jesus was born as a human baby on Christmas, and we celebrate this because knowing Him gives us life, joy, and peace.
There are so many ways to be the light and spread joy this holiday season, and remember you don’t have to do it all!
- Random Acts of Kindness: Small gestures can have a big impact. Pay for someone’s coffee in line behind you, leave a kind note for a stranger, or help someone carry their groceries. Acts of kindness can truly make someone’s day and spread warmth and cheer.
- Send Cards or Letters: In this digital age, receiving a handwritten card or letter can be a special and personal touch. Take the time to send holiday greetings to friends, family, or even strangers in nursing homes or hospitals. Your words of kindness can brighten someone’s day.
- Volunteer Your Time: Giving back to the community is a meaningful way to spread holiday cheer. Volunteer at a local shelter, donate to a food bank, or participate in a toy drive. Your time and support can make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
- Decorate and Spread Joy: Deck the halls with festive decorations and lights to spread holiday cheer in your neighborhood. Consider organizing a neighborhood decorating contest or simply share the joy of your own decorations with others.
- Share Your Talents: Whether you’re a baker, musician, or artist, sharing your talents with others can bring joy during the holidays. Bake cookies for neighbors, play music at a local senior center, or create handmade gifts for loved ones.
Said best from one of our favorite Christmas movies, “the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Now, maybe you don’t have to best singing voice but being the light doesn’t have to be complicated!
