At our church, First Assembly in Fort Myers, our pastor has been speaking on the fruits of the Spirit which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The word “fruit” means “result” or “action.” Thus, when your spirit reflects God’s working in your life you exemplify those qualities. His words last Sunday were so excellent that we wanted to share some of them here today on the topic of kindness.
God’s nature is love and this leads to joy which leads to peace which leads to kindness. We all know when we meet a special person, someone who exudes love and kindness, that we feel something beautiful just by being near this person, right?
In these days in which we are currently living, we are exposed to negativity, pain, and suffering. Giving the gift of kindness is a way to express agape love to others in a fallen world. We need to let out that kindness – let it flow!
Kindness is the outward expression of love, joy, peace, and patience. Kindness is irresistible when it is sincere. It puts people at ease, builds people up, and in a way, can ease the pain they may have been feeling.
Times are tough here in SW Florida right now. Many are recovering from devastating losses. And many of our patients come to us having failed traditional medical treatments. They may feel broken, alone, and afraid.
Compassion for others always does something. God sees everyone in the same manner, without judgment. If this hurricane did anything, it leveled the playing field as did many other previous disasters. They bring people together – without biases. Do you remember 9/11? People spoke to each other, hugged each other, and helped each other. We need to get back to that. Not just because of the hurricane – but all the time.
Look around. Let’s live out kindness in a real way. A bottle of water, a cup of coffee, a smile, a hug, a moment…to give to someone else. Kindness does not have to be expensive. We can be someone else’s miracle.
A small gesture may change someone’s life far more than you could ever imagine.
What or who is right in front of you?
Opportunities exist all around.
Make the time.
See people.
Care.
What is the next kind thing that you could do for someone else today?
